Three high school graduation seniors find themselves suddenly bestowed with superhero-like forces. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Unlike most superheroes, they use this electrical power not for saving folks, but for having entertaining. They pull pranks, impress girls and continue flying joyrides. As they test his or her newfound powers, they become close pals... until one of them begins to lose control.
Found footage films have got gotten a bad rap during the last year and this is not necessarily because the data format is flawed but since the format is being utilized poorly by bad motion pictures. This is not the way it is with CHRONICLE, a smart, fun, lean and mean twist using a superhero movie.
Both the superhero origin story and the found footage film possess each been done so frequently - and, frankly, so poorly - that the concept of yet another attempt at each barely registers around the Richter scale of fascination. Yet somehow a movie that's both a found footage movie and a superhero origin story is able to to inject new and also exciting life in every single genre.
As the tagline moves, the film subverts your old Uncle Ben maxim and watches how are you affected when with great strength comes no responsibility. Instead of a noble [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Peter Parker seeking to fight crime, the three teenagers in CHRONICLE blessed using a superhuman form of telekinesis use their newfound [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] powers [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the way in which you'd expect a lot of actual teenagers to. They fuck with [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] people with the mall, impress friends at the teachers [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] actually [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] hardly groundbreaking - it truly [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is essentially X-MEN meets AKIRA - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] in its execution, first-time director Josh Trank results in a film that seems fresh despite an oxygen of familiarity.
The film follows Phil (Dane DeHaan), the dorky one, who sets up this found footage format when he buys an old video camera to switch the tables on the abusive father. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] But unlike CLOVERFIELD, where the steady-handed cinematography regarding Hud always felt synthetic, Trank and writer Max Landis discover a clever hook to assist in the filmmaking.
It [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] starts with Andrew and another senior high school girl who shoots video to be with her blog (one of the few things [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] that rang false) applying their cameras to tell the particular story. But as the motion picture progresses, Andrew upgrades his camera and, with his powers, floats it around himself like [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] he were the star of his very own perverse reality TV demonstrate. He's a kid exactly who never had any motive to feel good about himself and today, as his ego grows spinning out of control, he documents his personal every step. This gives Trank the ability to free Andrew from behind the camera, allowing audiences to better interact with the character that serves as the hero and the bad guy. And in the film's 3rd act, when the scope of the film grows exponentially, the use of video security cameras, news footage [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and amateur cellphone video are all spliced in to enhance the storytelling.
