Replacing a head gasket on a Mazda B2500
You have your pride and joy Mazda B2500 out for a run and you notice it seems to be overheating, hollister france after a bit of inspection you notice the coolant level is a bit low even though there are no visible leaks under the vehicle. You then take it to your local garage, who diagnoses the problem as being a faulty head gasket which is allowing coolant to seep into the combustion chambers and it then turns to steam and exits woolrich through the exhaust.
The mechanics explain to you that you really only have two options if barbour on you plan to keep the vehicle. You can either replace the head gasket or replace the engine. Of course replacing the engine itself is a bit more money and with times being as they are, you opt for the slightly cheaper option to keep your vehicle running. Hoping to save a bit more money you decide to undertake the repair yourself. While you have enough tools in the garage you have one small problem, you have never done a repair as extensive as this before. So how do you go about completing it properly?
First and foremost, find yourself a repair manual for your vehicle type, either on the internet or through your local motor factors. This will help hollister The Significance of you greatly when it comes to final torquing of various engine components as you complete barbour online shop the job. It will also give you basic directions to complete the repair.
A basic outline of what is involved in the process would be as follows:
Drain the oil out of the vehicle
Drain the coolant out of the vehicle
Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the engine block
Remove the radiator from the vehicle and set aside (this provides more working room in the engine compartment)
Unbolt the exhaust manifold from the exhaust system
Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head and set aside
Unbolt and remove the intake manifold taking special care to mark any vacuum or water lines so they can be reattached later
Remove the rocker cover
Remove the front timing belt cover to expose the belt
Before removing the timing belt make sure the timing marks are aligned on both the upper and lower pulleys to make it easier to reassemble later.
Remove the timing belt from the cam pulley
Disconnect any electrical hollister sensors left on the cylinder head
Unbolt the cylinder head and remove from vehicle (sometimes this can take some force as the parts tend to seize together after many years)
Have the cylinder head checked by a qualified machinist ( you do not want to have to do the job again if there hollister france is a hairline crack in the cylinder head that is not visible during inspection, proper machine shops have special tools to verify a cylinder head is good.)
While the cylinder head is being tested, spend time preparing your engine block deck ( the area where the cylinder head mates to) make sure the deck hollister is cleaned down to bare metal hollister deutschland and totally flat using a metal straight edge, if the deck is not totally flat then you may have warped the block deck if you have overheated the engine which would result in giuseppe zanotti soldes having to remove the engine and have the deck machined so it is flat. The flatness of the block deck assures that the new cylinder head gasket will make a positive seal once fitted.
Set the new louboutin pas cher cylinder head gasket on the engine block deck, paying special attention to the oil and water gallery holes to make sure you have been supplied the correct gasket for mulberry sale your application.
As long as the gasket does not block any holes you can then set the cylinder head in place on top of the gasket.
DO NOT USE ANY FORM OF SEALER ON THE HEAD GASKET!!
The gaskets are meant to be fitted without sealant or they can hamper their sealing ability.
When the cylinder head is located properly you can then coat the threads of the head bolts with light lubricant and thread them in by hand.
Using a torque wrench and following the torque specifications and tightening sequence layed out in your repair manual go ahead and tighten down the cylinder head to the engine block.
Now you simply assemble the engine in the reverse order as you disassembled it, following any torque guides layed out in the repair manual.
When everything is in place and the timing has been reset on the vehicle, add new oil and coolant and start the vehicle. If everything has gone as planned the engine should start and run. Allow the vehicle to run and get up to operating temperature, topping off the coolant as needed while the system burps the air pockets out of it.
There you have it, you just completed a job most garages charge upwards of andpound;400.00 for.
